10 Best Mineral Sunscreens Without White Cast (For Dark Skin)
This article has compiled 10 of the best mineral sunscreens with no white cast for dark skin! If you have medium, tan, dark, or a deeper skin tone, it’s hard to find a mineral sunscreen that leaves no white cast on you.
Although this article is recommended for darker skin tones, you can still enjoy all of these sunscreens even if you don’t have dark skin and are just looking for the best mineral sunscreens without a white cast.
We all know mineral sunscreens are much safer, as chemical sunscreens are formulated with carcinogens (especially the ones that look great on darker skin!)
It is recommended to use half a teaspoon worth of mineral sunscreen (for the face) for it to be fully effective. Sometimes putting that much mineral sunscreen leaves a devastating white cast on darker skin tones.
*TIP: Apply your mineral sunscreen in layers, as blending it in all at once may be harder.
If you want safer non-toxic ingredients, I would highly suggest you look into tinted mineral sunscreens. Because of the iron oxide in tinted sunscreens, you are getting even more sun protection than a normal mineral sunscreen and they blend in with your skin tone much easier. (I prefer a more natural look though so the ones listed down here are more on the sheer side or are non-tinted.)
I have sensitive oily skin so I have chose a few that cater to that need. (I have listed some sunscreens for dry skin too!)
Tips on What to look for when choosing a Mineral Sunscreen:
- Both UVA/UVB Protection: Some sunscreens only contain UVB protection, so when choosing your sunscreen, make sure it says it covers a “Broad Spectrum” on it’s packaging, indicating it covers both UVA and UVB rays. This is important because UVA rays are what cause early signs of aging and skin related issues! All the sunscreens I have listed in this article are broad spectrum (yay!).
- At least 30 SPF: Dermatologists recommend your sunscreen has atleast 30 SPF, which translates to protecting against 96% UVB rays (50 SPF covers about 98%)
- Non-comedogenic ingredients: A lot of mineral sunscreens are known to have comedogenic (pore-clogging) ingredients to make it’s spreadability easier, but this can lead to break outs. Don’t worry, All the sunscreens I listed below are non-comedogenic (Non-pore clogging).
- Non-nano zinc oxide: Ensure the brand your using uses non-nano zin oxide. If they don’t, the toxic particles will absorb into your skin and actually can make you age quicker.
1. Supergoop! Glowscreen
Price: $38
SPF: 40
Finish: Natural (best for oily or combination skin)
Coverage: Sheer
Zinc Oxide: 12%
The first one on this list is the most popular Supergoop! Glowsreen that is now mineral tinted! This sunscreen adds a beautiful glow to your skin. It also has a considerably high SPF, so that’s a plus. I would say it lives up to the hype.
I would recommend the shades “Golden Hour” and “Sunset” for deeper tones.
Personally, this formulation was a little too greasy on me since I have oily skin but it is still worthy to be on this list. Give it a try!
2. Summer Fridays Sunscreen
Out of all the sunscreens on this list, the Summer Friday’s sunscreen leaves the best glowy finish. It blends in with minimal cast and has an amazing texture. I like how moisturizing this one is.

Price: $25
SPF: 35
Finish: Translucent (best for oily or combination skin)

Zinc Oxide: 15.2%
The Versed Mineral sunscreen has no tint but left no white cast, I was incredibly impressed! When it comes out of the tube, it looks to have a slight skin colored tint but fades and blends with your skin, leaving no cast.
I like how this is 35 SPF and has a higher zinc oxide content yet leaves almost no white cast.
4. Saint Jane Luxury Sunscreen
Price: $38

Out of all the sunscreens on this list, The Saint Jane Sunscreen is definitely my favorite for my skin type. It leaves no cast at all, gives my skin an airbrushed finish, and is perfect for my sensitive skin.
This sunscreen doubles as sun protection and a primer, so its perfect for under your foundation.
If your like me and don’t wear foundation, I would highly recommend this because it gives your face airbrushed look. I love this sunscreen and it’s definitely in my top 3.

The Bliss Block Star mineral sunscreen is the most affordable option from this list and is amazing! This is a good sunscreen for everyday use or for work. It’s tinted, but in a very sheer way so your skin looks like skin and not heavy makeup.
It’s ingredients are sensitive skin approved, and I would say this is perfect for all skin types.

SPF: 50
Finish: Dewy (best for dry/combination skin)

COTZ has three different types of sunscreens that work for darker skin: Non-tinted, lightly tinted, or heavily tinted.
They also have a mineral sunscreen that is not tinted and is formulated for sensitive skin. It is SPF 40 and leaves no white cast!
The COTZ sunscreen is definitely dewier than the sunscreens on this list, so if you have dry skin I would recommend this one. It’s texture is thicker as well.

7. La Roche Posay Anthelios Tinted Mineral Sunscreen
SPF: 50
Finish: Matte/natural (best for Oily or Normal skin)

Titanium Oxide: 11%
The La Roche Posay Tinted Mineral Sunscreen is a fan favorite everyday wear sunscreen. It looks stunning on the skin and feels so lightweight. If you want a higher SPF, this is your best best.
It uses titanium oxide as opposed to zinc oxide, which helps the formulation absorb oil better.
If you use too much of this, it could be a little too light if you have a darker complexion than mine.
This tinted sunscreen looks best on tan to medium skin tones!

Colorscience has an amazing mineral screen line that is tinted and has coverage
They also have a more tinted, better coverage from their Mineral Sunscreen Flex line. If you have a deeper skin tone, I would recommend trying the Flex Tan or Bronze shade as the medium shade was a bit light on me.

10. TiZO3 Mineral Sunscreen
Price: $45
SPF: 40
Finish: Glowy/Natural (Best for All Skin types)

Finally, the TiZO3 Mineral Sunscreen is super popular within dermatologists themselves! This is another one my favorites and is best for those with oily sensitive skin as it is mattifying, contains no fragrance, and no irritable ingredients.
The sunscreen is tinted itself, but it doesn’t leave a makeup- looking tint on the skin as it fades to clear.
